It's hard to believe that, in a country like the United States, 49 million people worry about not having enough food. Twelve million of them are children.

In the Greater Philadelphia Region, hunger affects one out of nine of its citizens, and one out of six of our children. In The Cost of Hunger, we follow 40,000 seeds, donated to the Philadelphia Prison System by a local horticultural society, through a network of community gardens to help feed victims of the cycle of poverty, showing how each person in a community can make a difference in the outcome of those who face hunger every day.
